It’s the dynamic duo of restaurant trade shows, back to back in Chicago starting today: the Marketing Executives Group and then, on Saturday, the National Restaurant Association Show.

If you’re going, write this down!!

My MEG hot tips:

  1. Ask lots of questions. You’ve got a room full of people who do what you do, all with varied experiences, and everyone here is happy to share.

  2. Introduce yourself! Don’t be shy. Everybody is here to network, say hi, and learn from one another. Definitely come introduce yourself to me!

  3. This is absolutely the best optimization tip I have for you: change tables often. Most people will pick a seat and stay there the whole day. If you wanna get the most out of the show, change tables every time there’s a new panel, speaker, or break. You’ll get a better experience, meet more people, and learn more.

  1. Come with a plan before you walk in the door. Know what you wanna accomplish, know who you want to see, know where they are, and ultimately schedule meetings in advance with the people you really need to talk to.

  2. Bring a bottle of water. Trust me on this. I’d tell you to bring six because that’s how many you might need, but that makes for a cumbersome backpack.

  3. Comfortable shoes are a must. You’re gonna be standing and walking. This thing is 14 football fields big.

  4. If you have power-noia, like I do, carry a charger.

  5. Come be on the Restaurants Grow podcast! I’ll be broadcasting an episode LIVE in the National Restaurant Association podcast booth on Sunday. Send me a DM if you want to come on the show for 10 minutes. We’ll be talking about THE Show, the state of the restaurant business, AI, marketing tips, and more.

  6. Come learn and discover marketing tips at both of my panels.
